Quoted: Paulo Freire

I find this quote helpful when I’m feeling worn down and need a little inspiration and motivation to keep fighting.

“Washing one’s hands of the conflict between the powerful and the powerless means to side with the powerful, not to be neutral. ”

- Paulo Freire, “Pedagogy of freedom: ethics, democracy, and civic courage” (1998).

The only way to not advance the agenda of the powerful is to fight it. (ht ohfortheloveofdog)

The ability to “not see race” is only with the dominant group.

The ability to “not see sexism” is only with men.

And on and on… it’s an invisible knapsack, after all?

Kinda rminds me of Archibishop Desmond Tutu:

“If an elephant is standing on a tail of a mouse, the mouse will not apreciate your neutrality.”
