Lake Desire, I regret to say that I don't have current info on this, but I think it's safe to assume that since the UC, CSU, and California community colleges are currently undergoing severe cuts, that disability services and disability studies are probably being rampantly cut. I'll do some research and see if I can find some numbers/articles for you. Are folks at University of Washington trying to fight the cuts? Is there something we could do to be supportive (writing letters, etc.)?

I think it's also important that my issues with California's libraries are not meant to distract in any way from the huge numbers of very severe budget cuts going on in California right now. It happens to be an issue dear to my heart, but it's not, in my opinion, the most important thing being cut, at all. And we will definitely be talking more here about the chilling effects happening in the disability community as a result of budget cuts all over the United States.

Have you heard about how budget cuts have been affecting disabilities studies and services for students at the universities and community colleges in California? Disabilities studies is under attack at my school (University of Washington) with the budget cuts.
